Star of stage & screen for 40 years !
We wrote to Bill to ask if he had ever been to Aviemore, and whether he had
any memories to share with us.

Thanks for your email about possible Aviemore memories. Although my outdoor
hobby back in the 60's was climbing, it was always in the west around Arrochar
and, if lucky, Glencoe. Sadly never in the Cairngorms.
My only visit was in 1968 as assistant stage manager on the
'Billy Raymond Try for Ten All Star Variety Show"
Although he was a big star on Grampian at the time, I seem to remember that
the audience were huddled together for warmth down the the front!
My memory of that Billy Raymond show was literally in the early days of the
centre opening with heating glitches etc, but compared to the wee halls we had
been playing in around the highlands it was like the Carnegie Hall!
