Do you, like me, suffer from the dreaded cold-sore? Don't they have the knack of appearing just before you're going to a special event like a  wedding or a party or an important meeting, where you're going to be all dressed up and looking your best, but there's this big ugly scab on your lip or your nose which nothing will cover up?  It's so obvious what it is and we all feel embarrassed and feel that people are looking at it whilst they're talking to us. Why do cold sores always decide to blight us at the worst possible moment?  It's very frustrating isn't it.

I started getting cold sores when I started secondary school in 1974.  At that time, there wasn't much available, if anything, over the counter or at the doctors for cold sores, so we just got on with it until it disappeared, which sometimes took weeks.  A friend I met when I started secondary school suffered with them too and she said that her Gran had a "special mix" that worked really quickly to get rid of cold sores.  She said she'd ask her Gran to make some and she'd bring me some to try.  A couple of days later she brought it to school.  I took the lid off of this little pot and there was this brown sticky mixture which smelt like Christmas cake!  It didn't look very nice, but then neither did the cold sore!  I asked my friend what was in it and she said that she had no idea, but she said that her Gran had said that "it's all foodstuffs. You could spread it on your toast and eat it". All Gran's say that "the old remedies are the best" don't they.  Eventually, some years after leaving school, I managed to get Gran to part with her secret recipe.  That was over 30 years ago and I've been using it ever since.

For many years now, I've been asked for a pot of my "special mix" by friends and family who have all benefited from using it, so I have now taken the plunge and have decided to share Gran's "special mix" with all of you who suffer the dreaded cold sore.

Everyone who has used it has been amazed at how quickly it works, and if applied quickly enough, can even stop the cold sore developing at all.

My husband and I were due to go to a Hogmanay Gala Dinner in December and you guessed it, 3 days before New Years Eve, a cold sore develops.  Great!  Out came the mix and I just kept applying it as often as possible.  The lump developed into a small blister, but by regularly applying the cold sore mix, it dried the blister up before it had time to develop into a full blown scab/sore.  By the time New Years Eve came, what was left of the cold sore was easily covered with lipstick and you couldn't see it.  Saved by "the mix" yet again.

I personally have never had "the tingle" that the adverts for over the counter preparations mention.  I just feel a lump under the skin on my lip or nose, sometimes even up inside my nose, that feels like a spot starting.  I apply the cold sore mix to the lump immediately.  The lump occasionally develops into a small blister, but the more I apply the mix, the blister dries up quickly without developing into a full blown sore which as we all know then scabs and weeps and looks most unsightly.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

The mix should ideally be applied with a cotton bud to avoid cross contamination and to avoid spreading the virus and also using light pressure to really work the mix into the area, especially if the blister has already broken and developed into a sore/scab.  It will sting a bit, but it's worth it.

It should be noted that the mix can temporarily stain the skin slightly and clothing, so take extra care.  Nothing that a wet cotton wool ball won't remedy on the skin or washing the clothing.

As the mix is dark brown in colour and will be applied in a very obvious area, e.g. mouth/nose, it is best used at home and as often as possible, and especially just before going to bed.

You can be assured that unlike medical preparations, it is not possible to overdose on this product and there have been no reported side effects in the 30 years that I have been using this remedy myself or making it for others.

I was asked a few years ago by a couple of friends if I thought it would be safe to use this mix on the genital area as unfortunately she and her then boyfriend had contracted genital herpes.  I really didn't know and was a bit unsure of what to say, but as it's made with 100% foodstuffs, I said that I would just give it a go on a tiny area and see what happened.  I was a bit apprehensive as I waited for her to call me and let me know the result.
It wasn't something that had ever crossed my mind to be honest, but it's much the same virus as cold sores on the lips and nose, so I didn't see any reason why it shouldn't work "down there".
I was quite relieved when she called me and said that she and her boyfriend had used it and although it had "stung a bit!", within about 3 days, the sores were so much better and drying up on both of them.

So there we are.  Not only does it work on the lips and nose, it works on the "nether regions" as well.

I have spoken to a few pharmacists recently and asked if a preparation for genital herpes is available over the counter and they've all said "NO" and that you would have to go to the doctor or STD clinic for creams/preparations etc.

I have even found out from a friend that it works on mouth ulcers too.  It's not easy to keep the mix on the ulcer obviously because it's not a dry area, but even if you just apply the mix often, the ulcer will heal much quicker.  I suffer with them myself and I tried it and it does heal them much quicker.

Each pot contains 10ml of the cold sore mix.  Once opened, it doesn't go off and can last indefinitely.

I would suggest that every time you use the mix after it has been sitting for a while in between cold sores, that you stir it.

This product uses only the finest ingredients.  The base product is 100% New Zealand Manuka Honey, well known for it's anti-bacterial and extremely beneficial healing properties, along with added herbs and spices.

Gran's recipe contained ordinary honey, as over 30 years ago, I don't even know if Manuka Honey was available even in New Zealand.

I choose to use it as it's the best honey available and has excellent healing qualities in it's own right.

People have come back time and time again for another pot of the cold sore "mix", which is best kind of recommendation I can have.

Best wishes and thank you for taking the time to read this webpage.

How nice to receive a lovely testimonial from a satisfied customer

"Hello, I just wanted to email you to say how pleased I am with this coldsore remedy.
I've had 2 coldsores since receiving the remedy and both have been stopped in their tracks.
Neither developed into anything more than a small mark that is barely noticeable.
Thank you!
Kind regards
Rachel Dervish"
